Dawnland Voices Reading Group

Stop by the Cook Library in Tamworth to pick up a copy of Dawnland Voices: An Anthology of Indigenous Writing from New England with a bookmark of suggested readings, and then, on Wednesday, November 3, at 7PM, live via Zoom, teen and adult readers are invited to join in a reading group conversation. Please register at bit.ly/dawnlandvoices2.

About the Book Dawnland Voices

Dawnland Voices calls attention to the little-known but extraordinarily rich literary traditions of New England’s Native Americans… Through literary collaboration and recovery, [editor] Siobhan Senier and Native tribal historians and scholars have crafted a unique volume covering a variety of genres and historical periods… Dawnland Voices introduces readers to the compelling and unique literary heritage in New England, banishing the misconception that “real” Indians and their traditions vanished from that region centuries ago.”

This program is part of “Wabanaki History, Ecology & Experiences,” a series of programs exploring Indigenous history and experiences in what is now called northern New England, a collaboration between the Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth and the Chocorua Lake Conservancy, made possible through a generous grant from The Tamworth Foundation. Please join us next on Wednesday, November 10 online for “Interacting With Maine-Wabanaki History.”
