Microplastics & Zero Waste

Tackling plastic pollution takes a village!

Wednesday, February 11 at 7 PM, join Green Mountain Conservation Group, Cook Memorial Library, and CLC for “Microplastics & Zero Waste” via Zoom. Green Mountain Conservation Group Staff Scientist Jill Emerson and Cindy Heath from the NH Network’s Plastic Working Group, a volunteer organization focused on reducing plastic waste and the toxic chemicals associated with plastics, will present on plastic pollution and what we can do about it.

Learn about microplastics in the environment, potential health implications, and how communities in New Hampshire and across the country are tackling the issue of plastic pollution. This online program will share current microplastics research happening in the Ossipee Watershed region of New Hampshire as well as case studies from cities around the country that have effectively increased municipal waste diversion rates through strategic plans and policies, including the impact on disposal costs and how Conservation Commissions and other town boards and departments, schools, businesses and individuals can contribute to the effort.
