Rebugging Your Attitude

  • Charlotte C. Browne Woods (map)

Bugs, insects, arachnids, and all those crawling, flying, scuttling critters. While some people love them, maybe you prefer to keep your distance. If that sounds like you, we invite you to challenge your perception of these small creatures on a walk through the fields and forests.

On Sunday, August 30, from 9–10:30 AM, join Chocorua Lake Conservancy at the Charlotte C. Browne Woods in Tamworth for Rebugging Your Attitude with Olivia Jakabosky; a shared learning experience about insects and an opportunity to stop and reflect on the natural world.

This is intended for people who are a little hesitant around insects to safely and comfortably increase their familiarity with them, while increasing understanding of just how important these creatures are to our ecosystems. The goal is noticing and reflecting on the natural world we’re a part of, and working through fear and other feelings you may have about insects. Of course, if you already love insects, you’re welcome to join, too! Discover the beauty and fascinating characteristics of this class—the most diverse group in the animal kingdom.

Bring your walking shoes, a journal, pen/pencil, and most importantly, your curiosity. You might also like to bring sun and bug protection and a water bottle. Participants of all ages are encouraged to join. This program is free/by donation, and space is limited—please register in advance.

Olivia Jakabosky, currently serving as CLC’s AmeriCorps Land Steward through the Lakes Region Conservation Corps, will lead this walk-and-talk. Olivia brings her background in conservation biology, biodiversity, and ecology and combines it with her natural love of insects and their fascinating lives.
