Come make beautiful paper lanterns for your canoe, kayak, or to carry, and then join in the magical Parade of Lights tradition on Chocorua Lake, every Sunday on Labor Day weekend.

On Tuesday, September 1, from 3–5 PM, join Arts Council of Tamworth and Chocorua Lake Conservancy for a lantern-making workshop at Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth.

Learn how to make a decorative lantern out of recycled materials, paper, and wire. Make it as simple or extravagant as you wish! Feel free to bring your own natural, recycled or second-hand materials to use, as well (sticks, wicker, paper towel tubes, cards, twine, netting etc.). This workshop is free, but donations toward materials are much appreciated. Space is limited—please register in advance.

Then, bring your lanterns, and a canoe or kayak if you have one, to Chocorua Lake Conservancy’s Annual Picnic and Parade of Lights on Chocorua Lake on Sunday, September 6, at 6PM, with the parade starting at dusk. This tradition has existed in some form on Chocorua Lake for more than 100 years.
