Narrows Bridge Update

Early Saturday morning, a truck crashed through the bridge railings of the Narrows Bridge on Chocorua Lake. We are grateful that no one was hurt. Work is already underway to install a temporary barrier, which will reduce the width of the bridge slightly.

The Chocorua Lake Conservancy has paid for and maintained the wooden railings for the last 50 years at no cost to the Town of Tamworth and we expect that any future structure will maintain the unspoiled character of the Chocorua Lake Basin.

The Town of Tamworth owns the bridge and we look forward to working together on efforts to rebuild. While our goal is to recreate railings with the same character and charm as in the past, we will always keep the safety of those who use the bridge at the forefront of our efforts.

There has already been an outpouring of concern for the historical railings, and questions about the future of the bridge. The process that lies ahead is just beginning – we will continue to keep our supporters and our community up to date through our social media channels and our email communications. We appreciate your support and feedback moving ahead.
